Christy Rutherford honored as outstanding DECA advisor

Christy Rutherford, business and marketing teacher at Lee’s Summit West High School, was recently recognized by Missouri DECA as a Diamond Award recipient. This prestigious award is presented each year at the Missouri DECA State Career Development Conference. She is among 11 DECA chapter advisors from Missouri receiving the award this spring.

The Diamond Award winners are selected by DECA advisors from throughout the state. Recipients are honored for their outstanding contributions to Missouri DECA and to their school districts. Rutherford is being honored for serving as an inspirational educator, mentor and role model to other marketing educators and students.

Rutherford has worked at Lee’s Summit West High School for nine years and previously worked at Lee’s Summit North High School for four years. During her career with the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District, she has served as a business and marketing teacher, DECA advisor, lead teacher and department chair for business and marketing.
