A glint of hope for kids with dreams

May 1, 2013

A Lee’s Summit girl will benefit from the generosity of others after being awarded a grant from Watermark for Kids.

The organization recently announced its latest award in Jackson County. With funds raised through payroll deductions, BBQ competitions and other events at The Fountains at Greenbriar, Watermark for Kids has agreed to furnish a Lee’s Summit six-year old with dance shoes, leotard and tights along with tuition and gas money to attend dance class at Mindy’s School of Dance for six months.

The national nonprofit organization has, since its creation, helped more than 100 kids across the country attend camps and tournaments, take art and music classes and buy books and equipment that their families could not otherwise afford.

In exchange for helping children achieve their dreams, Watermark for Kids requests award recipients “pay it forward” with service projects of their own. Many Watermark Kids return to share what they have learned with the donors who made their award possible.

Residents and associates of The Fountains at Greenbriar hope to be able to watch their newest Watermark Kid in a dance recital next year.
