Members of the Lee’s Summit Jaycees met for their annual election of officers. Named were George Mossie, president; Ed Falk II, first vice president; Joe Turney, second vice president; Bob Johnson, secretary; Delbert Hofstetter, treasurer; Roy Ball, state director; Glenn Frazier, Roger Kidd, Joe Lowe, Stan Magady, Herbert Meeks, Charles Yancey, local directors. Al Johnson, outgoing president, was in charge of the meeting.
Jack Janes, local sewer inspector was pictured in the Journal. He is shown piloting his ship "City of Lee’s Summit" about the city’s Little Cedar lagoon. The revolving propeller of the outbound motor created a stir oxygenating the lagoon’s contents and thus aids nature to do the wonderful work of purification.
Mrs. Charles Bishop, librarian at the local library has announced that she will soon retire. She started in library work in Independence in 1947 and has worked in several library branches before returning to Lee’s Summit five years ago.
