Trailridge Timberbots host tournament for residents at John Knox Village

May 15, 2013

The Trailridge Elementary Timberbots robotics hosted a Robot Sumo Tournament May 4 at John Knox Village retirement community.

The team members demonstrated some of their off-season activities for the Village residents.

The Robot Sumo game is played on a four-foot diameter circular playing field build for the Timberbots by Lee’s Summit West High School Team Titanium. The goal is to push your opponent out of the ring or tip the opponent’s robot over.

The game features problem-solving as students quickly learn how important friction and mass are in building their Mindstorm robot.

The trip was the Trailridge Timberbot team’s third visit to John Knox Village to meet with the residents.
