Summit Theatre Group holds auditions for “Annie Get Your Gun”

May 17, 2013

The Summit Theatre Group will hold auditions for “Annie Get Your Gun” May 18.

“Everyone at Summit Theatre Group is extremely excited about upcoming production of Herbert Dorothy Fields and Irving Berlin’s ‘Annie Get Your Gun.’ What makes Summit Theatre Group great is all the dedicated people who work together to make shows happen. We look forward to seeing all the talented performers who will be at our auditions,” said Ben Martin, president of the STG board.

Auditions start at 10 a.m. and continue to 4 p.m. at Unity Village Activity Center located on Unity Way. All ages, types, and ethnicities are encouraged to audition.

Auditions will consist of three portions. The first will be a memorized humorous monologue which is to be no more than 1 minute in length.

There will be roles with no lines, so if you prefer to not perform a monologue you need only audition with the song and dance portion, however you may not be considered for a speaking role. The second portion will be a singing audition of 16 bars of a song from a musical that demonstrates your range. An accompanist will be provided, please bring a copy of your sheet music with the portion you will be singing highlighted. You may not sing A Capella.

The third portion of the audition will be a dance that you will be taught, to be performed in small groups. Every person in this show will dance, so you must attend the dance audition. Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing in which you can move.

Call backs will be by invitation starting at 7 p.m. on May 20 and 21 and will consist of reading and singing from the script and additional dancing. You will be contacted individually.

The production dates for the play are July 18h-21t with performances at the Lee’s Summit West High School Performing Arts Center. Rehearsals begin May 22d and will generally be held Monday through Thursday, from 7 to 10 p.m. with some Saturdays. Be prepared to fill out a conflict calendar for dates starting May 20 – July 21.
