The Jackson County Court has ordered road work to begin this week and Judge Harry Truman said that in all probability the first job of resurfacing would be the road from Lee’s Summit to Longview Farm.

50 years ago

May 1963

Members of the local Optimist Club held their annual election of officers. Named to president of the group was N.B. "Buck" Langsford, Jr., 214 West Third Terrace. Others elected were Hill Garrison, first vice president; Merle McConnell, second vice president; Stanley Jolliff, treasurer; Paul Gessler, sergeant-at-arms; Richard Spencer and Dr. M.D. Durnell, board members. Board members being held over are Dan Wilson and Jack Baker.

Barbara Ann Fann and Glen Lewallen were married at the Lee’s Summit Methodist Church. Mrs. Lewallen attended Lee’s Summit High School and is employed by Hallmark Cards. Lewallen attended Kansas State University and is employed by Western Electric.
