Four Lee’s Summit R-7 School District high school seniors were recently named Optimist Students of the Month by the Lee’s Summit Breakfast Optimist Club. The club honors six seniors each month for outstanding scholarship and citizenship. These students, unable to attend an earlier meeting, were honored in May.
Recognized students for March were Sydney Hochsprung, Lee’s Summit West High School and Aaron Davis, LSWHS. Recognized students for April were Courtney Shanholtzer, LSWHS and Quinn Hurshman, LSWHS.
Sydney Hochsprung, daughter of Leslie Hochsprung and Jon Hochsprung, has been active in National Art Honor Society. After high school, Sydney plans to attend the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Aaron Davis, son of Mary Davis and Tom Davis, has been active in Club 121, musicals, symphonic band, concert and chamber choirs. After high school, Aaron plans to attend Kansas University to pursue a degree in pre-pharmacy and participate in the choir and marching band.
Courtney Shanholtzer, daughter of Angie Shanholtzer and Steven Shanholtzer, has been active in choir, theatre, student senate and National Honor Society. After high school, Courtney plans to attend the University of Missouri at Columbia to pursue a degree in biology for premed.
Quinn Hurshman, son of Susie Cable and Bret Hurshman, has been active in National Honor Society, student senate, symphony orchestra, cross country, track and field. After high school, Quinn plans to attend college to obtain a degree in physics.
