Historical reenactment

May 22, 2013

Reenactor Ralph Monaco, of Raytown, as the preacher conducts a funeral for Dr. Pleasant Lea, a prominent area settler who was assassinated 151 years ago during the Missouri-Kansas conflict preceding the Civil War. Also acting in the ceremony were Bill Wehner, Pleasant Hill resident with students from Lee’s Summit North High School, Kathy Brady and Madison Watt, kneeling, as visitors watch. It was part of the Preservation Month activities May 18 where students presented history of the Lea family at the Gamber Center and Lee’s Summit Historical Cemetery.
