May 29, 2013

Summit Christian Academy recently elected two new members to the Board of Education. Danan Hughes and John Kliewer were elected by the parents of students at SCA and will be seated at the end of the May 23 board meeting.

Danan Hughes and his wife, Tifanni, have been married for 17 years and have three children, Taurin, Savana, and Talyn, who have attended SCA since 2000. Hughes attended the University of Iowa on an athletic scholarship and played baseball and football. He played professional baseball for two years before being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 1993. He played with the Kansas City Chiefs for six years (three years as captain) and retired in 1999. Hughes has been with U.S. Bank Home Mortgage in the Wealth Management Group since April, 2000.

John Kliewer and his wife Megan have three children, Jessalyn, Preston, and Griffin, who have attended SCA since 2005. Kliewer graduated from Tabor College, a Christian college in Hillsboro, Kan., with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He joined Waddell & Reed Financial Advisors in 1995 and serves as a managing principal and is on Waddell & Reed’s Leadership Council. Kliewer served on the Board of Education for Grand Island Christian School and Megan has been a teacher in two Christian schools.

“We are pleased that our school has elected two outstanding individuals, who are not only leaders at SCA, but are active leaders in the community as well,” said SCA Head of School Linda Harrelson.
