Commerce Bank in Lee’s Summit robbed

The FBI is handling an investigation into the robbery of a bank in Lee’s Summit.

A man robbed Commerce Bank, 1001 Chipman Road, May 29 around 4:20 p.m. after handing a teller a demand note.

The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, in his late 20’s-30’s, with a heavy muscular build and weighing close to 250 pounds. He was wearing a dark green camo ball cap, gray shirt and jeans.

No weapon was shown in the robbery and no threats were levied, but the suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

No injuries were reported in the robbery, the first of its kind this year in Lee’s Summit.
