Pancake Breakfast in Lee’s Summit to benefit Operation BBQ Relief to aid tornado victims

June 3, 2013

An all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast to help Operation BBQ Relief, currently helping feed tornado victims, will be held June 8.

Lee’s Summit Downtown Rotary Club is sponsoring the breakfast by Chris Cakes Pancakes and Sausage.

The public is invited to make a $7 donation to eat 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday June 8, at the main tent located in front of the Bank of Lee’s Summit during Downtown Days.

All proceeds from the breakfast will go to Operation BBQ Relief, which is currently in Moore, Okla. helping feed residents who are working on recovery.

Operation BBQ Relief is a charitable organization started by competitive BBQ teams after the Joplin tornado. Their first response to a disaster was in Joplin, MO where they served 120,000 meals in 11 days to tornado victims and volunteers. They have since deployed to numerous disasters to feed those in need including Hurricane Sandy. The report from Moore, Okla. is 129,900 meals served as of May 30.
