LSWHS varsity cheerleaders launch book study

June 12, 2013

Members of the Lee’s Summit West High School varsity cheer squad recently launched a summer book study focusing on Sean Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens.”

Janie Taylor, a parent of one of the team members, and coaches Lori Setley and Sarah Pyle, are leading the girls through the book study.

The varsity squad decided to study the book to help develop an effective team. Senior squad members are also helping lead the book study this summer.

“The focus with the seniors is leadership is a choice not a position,” said Taylor. “They are not leaders just because they are seniors – it is who they are and how they treat their team. All the girls will first be focusing on working from the inside out on the seven habits with the goal being success of the team.”
