According to a news release from the Independence Police Department, the two-vehicle collision occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m. A 2006 Ford Freestyle crossed the center line and struck a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Pietarila, on Missouri 7 near 30th Terrace.
