lists

of people

to blame

for every

failure

and erase

from our

memories

all names

of those

who might

challenge

claims

that each

success

is due

to them

never

ever

work for

a boss

marry

a spouse

play for

a coach

who operates

that way

because

soon or late

they will

throw you

under

their bus

it is

the only

fatherly

advice

i have

to leave

for my

children

postscript

run fast

away

from

fund raisers

who tell

stories

about

minimum

wage

single

parents

skipping

lunch

to give

to

their

causes

a history

my dad

died

when i

was two

has never

appeared

to me

in dreams

visions

when drunk

or kneeling

in church

he drove

buicks

smoked

cigars

one

thanksgiving

shucked

corn

in the rain

left a

paid for

farm

thats all

i need
