Lee’s Summit Sunrise Rotary Club

7:15 a.m., Emaline Ballroom – Every Friday morning you are cordially invited to attend the Lee’s Summit Sunrise Rotary at the Emaline Ballroom, 616 SW Third St. You will have the opportunity to meet our many business members, have breakfast provided by local restaurateurs and hear an interesting program. Lee’s Summit’s Got Talent

7 p.m., Lee’s Summit High School Performing Arts Center – Tickets $15 in advance, $20 at the door. This competition features a wide variety of performers from singers to dancers, musicians and novelty acts all vying for the $5,000 cash prize.

Rock the Green

7 p.m., City Hall Plaza – This concert features classic rock from the sixties and seventies; Lee’s Summit Parks & Recreation presents the first of three free, live concerts featuring bands from all over the Kansas City metro. The first in the series is “Rock the Green”. This concert features classic rock from the sixties and seventies. This family fun event is set for Friday, June 21 and will feature “Fast Johnny Ricker,” “The People Next Door,” “Rick Bacus Band,” and “Shmedleys.” The concert is free and food and drink vendors will be onsite. Feel free to bring lawn chairs but no coolers, alcohol or glass bottles will be allowed.

Helping Hands of the Willing Workers

1 p.m., Longview Chapel Christian Church, 850 SW Longview Road – Join a weekly group that makes crafts and sews for the benefit of the church. The Helping Hands make items throughout the year to earn money for the building fund and make cheer baskets for the homebound. The group invites anyone looking for fellowship, fun and those who enjoy creating items, to join them. The group furnishes all supplies and is always looking for new ideas. Egyptian Dig!

2 p.m., Colbern Road Branch, 1000 NE Colbern Road – Transport back in time to ancient Egypt with storyteller Jo Ho. She’ll be digging up tales of kings and queens, and crocodiles, too. Help dust off a unique picture book of hieroglyphs and also meet a very clever camel and a master baker. How much wrapping does it take to make a mummy? Come and find out in this fast-paced Egyptian dig! (Ages 5 and up) Registration is required.
