In celebration of Independence Day, Jackson County will be holding a celebration on July 4th at Longview Lake.

Parking and admission to the Independence Day event is free and open to the public. Gates to the event will open at 6 p.m.

Entertainment will include a skydiving demonstration by the Skydive Kansas City Exhibition Team, as well as carnival games and a water balloon contest. There will also be food beverage and vendors throughout the event location.

County officials will also pay tribute to local veterans and active duty members from all branches of our Armed Forces.

“This event provides a great opportunity for our citizens to spend time with friends and family while honoring those who sacrificed so much for our nation’s freedom,” said Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders.

Live music will be performed by Nashville recording artists Blackjack Billy.

The event will culminate with the largest fireworks finale in Jackson County.
