My wife and I chose to move our family from south Kansas City to Lee’s Summit three years ago. Since then, it has been a common occurrence for
things to happen that cause us to be thankful we made that decision and regretful we did not make it sooner.
This past week we had a couple more of those events happen and I would like to publicly thank some members of our community.
To Coach Boehm and the young men of the Lee’s Summit West Football team who conducted the camp for the students at Prairie View Elementary recently – a heartfelt ‘Thank You’ to you all. The joy you brought my daughter, and myself in turn when I witnessed her happiness is most appreciated. Your actions speak to your fine character and morals.
To board members, Dr. McGehee, administrators, teachers and staff of the Lee’s Summit School District ‘Thank You’ for your leadership, leading by example to create an atmosphere of cooperation and citizenship within the schools and community. I sincerely appreciate all you have done with the schools and students.
To Mayor Rhoads, council members, city administration and staff, ‘Thank You’ for your efforts to make Lee’s Summit a great place to live, work and raise a family. I know a lot of extra hours are put in and you genuinely want the best for all from your decisions and actions. I appreciate your willingness to engage citizens and genuine commitment to our community.
To all those who planned, executed and cleaned up following Downtown Days, ‘Thank You’ for your efforts in bringing a great community event to Lee’s Summit. One of the things I love about events like this is the fostering a sense of community and belonging to those who work on and attend them.
Having grown up in a small town and needing to work in a metropolitan area due to my career choice, I am very happy I have a community like Lee’s Summit to call home.
