Construction workers have converged on Lea McKeighan Park South, located at Douglas and Chipman roads, as the face lift for the decades-old park facility begins. The new park, complete with play areas for children, multi-use trails, reflecting pond, climbing rocks and open field space, is slated to be completed in fall of 2013. Parks and Recreation Administrator Tom Lovell said the new park will be a model of environmental sustainability with innovative stormwater management, native landscaping and energy efficient lighting. There will also be a special commemorative area to recognize the rich history of the park.
