Pastel artist will demonstrate techniques at LS City Hall

July 17, 2013

Local artist Rich Hayek on Thursday will give a painting demonstration at Lee’s Summit City Hall during a reception that opens an exhibit of his work.

The demonstration will be 5:30 to 7 p.m. July 18 in the lobby. Visitors also can view his artwork while enjoying light hors d’oeuvres and wine sampling, compliments of J. Beans.

A talented landscape artist, poet and geographer, Hayek is inspired by the beauty and ambiance of nature in the Midwest. Through his use of pastels and charcoal on grain sandpaper canvas, his distinctive art captures the splendor of Midwest scenery.

His artwork will be on display at City Hall during normal business hours from July 18 until mid-October 2013.
