Two Summit Christian Academy student-athletes will be competing in the Amateur Athletic Union National Junior Olympics Games in Ypsilanti, Michigan July 26-Aug. 3.
The district qualifier was held in Joplin. In Joplin, SCA freshman student Carlie Queen placed first in the pole vault and second in both the high jump and the discus. Seventh grade student Lenetta Lee placed first in the long jump and second in the 100-meter dash. Lee’s relay team placed first in the 4x100-meter dash. Lee’s sister Larra, a fourth grader at SCA, also competed at the qualifier in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, and the long jump.
“We are very proud of these girls and excited that they will be competing in the national Junior Olympics,” SCA sixth grade track co-coach Christie Queen said. “We are also excited about the future of SCA track as these elite athletes continue to develop.”
