Music in the Park

6:30 p.m., “Begin Anyway” (Folk/Pop) “Dinsdale” (Alternative Indie), Howard Station Park – Enjoy free Friday night concerts from Memorial Day to Labor Day in Howard Station Park in Downtown Lee’s Summit. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.

5:30 a.m.-11 p.m., Lake Lotawana, M-71 Street – Events throughout the day at the Missouri Yacht Club including a bass tournament, mile run, mile swim, Opti sailing race, canoe and kayak race, swim races, water ski show and live music.

Farmers Market

Noon, First Presbyterian Church of Lee’s Summit, 1625 NW O’Brien Road – Is someone’s drinking causing you problems? Come to Al-Anon and join friends and family of alcoholics. The group meets weekly at noon on Mondays and 7:30 p.m. Thursdays.

Helping Hands of the Willing Workers

1 p.m., Longview Chapel Christian Church, 850 SW Longview Road – Join a weekly group that makes crafts and sews for the benefit of the church. The Helping Hands make items throughout the year to earn money for the building fund and make cheer baskets for the homebound. The group invites anyone looking for fellowship, fun and those who enjoy creating items, to join them. The group furnishes all supplies and is always looking for new ideas. Blues & Jazz Fest

7-10:30 p.m., Third and Green Streets, City Hall Plaza – Lee’s Summit Parks & Recreation presents bands from the Kansas City metro, sponsored by Paradise Park and Dr. Hansen – Braces and Invisalign. This family fun event will feature “Jason Vivone” and The Billy Bats,” “Christy Meinhardt Quartet,” “Crosseyed Cat” and “Knock Kneed Sally.” The concert is free and food and drink vendors will be onsite. No coolers, alcohol or glass bottles will be allowed.
