Sheriff’s Department investigating shooting near Greenwood

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the shooting of a 22-year-old woman near Greenwood.

According to a news release from the Sheriff’s department, at approximately 8:30 a.m. July 29, the Sheriff’s office received a call from a female reporting a shooting in the 13000 block of Harris Road. The residence, in unincorporated Jackson County, is near Greenwood.

Upon the arrival of deputies, they found a 22-year-old female of that address that appeared to have been shot. She was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

A 22-year-old male, also from that residence, was taken into custody at the scene and has been transported to Jackson County Sheriff’s office for questioning. 

The case and circumstances surrounding the shooting is still under investigation, and other individuals are currently being interviewed, the release stated.
