Appliance rebates available to KCP&L customers

July 31, 2013

KCP&L’s new Home Appliance Rebates offer a way to recycle, upgrade and get money back.

An inefficient refrigerator uses twice as much electricity as a new, efficient model. If the fridge is made before 1993 it could cost more than $100 per year to run.

KCP&L can help customers lower energy use with several new rebates.

For the Home Appliance Recycling Rebate, KCP&L will pick up qualified, old appliances – beginning with a secondary refrigerator – at eligible customers’ homes and send a$ 75 rebate.

Refrigerators are just one type of eligible appliance. Customers may be eligible to recycle two additional appliances, including another refrigerator or freezer, or room air conditioners and dehumidifiers.

All appliances must be in working order, owned by the customer and picked up at the address on the residential KCP&L account.

Recycling pick-ups can be scheduled at 1-855-612-4098 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

KCP&L customers also may be eligible to receive rebates on the purchase of a new energy-efficient refrigerator or other major appliance with KCP&L’s Home Appliance Rebate of:

• $100 for a new ENERGY STAR certified refrigerator

• $100 for a new ENERGY STAR certified freezer

• $35 for any new programmable thermostat

• $25 for a new ENERGY STAR certified room air conditioner

Customers should visit www.kcpl.com/rebate to see if they are eligible.
