Margaret Wiltsee, 96, a former teacher, died. Miss Wiltsee taught Latin and English at Lee’s Summit High School for 32 years before she retired. She was a graduate of the School of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Missouri and Drury College in Springfield. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Toys "R" Us has announced plans to build a distribution center in southern Lee’s Summit, a move that could mean 100 new jobs and thousands of dollars of additional tax revenue for the city. According to Mayor Marvin Ensworth the distribution center would serve 51 stores in a six-to eight state region.

Marvin Ensworth is Mayor of Lee’s Summit. The Aldermen are Kay Ford, Eric Bushner, Charlie Plank, Chere Chaney, Bob Jones, Karen Messerli, John Swearngin and Bill Decker.

Roulette in Lee’s Summit. There was a picture in the Journal of George Kelly letting the ball go on one of the two roulette wheels in the Gameroom Casino downtown. The casino is really a school for teaching people how to gamble.
