R-7 Teachers prepare for new school year at LS Chamber welcome breakfast

August 7, 2013

Lee's Summit R-7 School District Superintendent David McGehee, right, had the opportunity to address dozens of new teachers Aug. 2 at the annual Lee's Summit Chamber of Commerce New Teacher Welcome Breakfast at the University of Central Missouri Summit Center. McGehee covered everything from the changing face of public education to dress-down Fridays. "You will walk into the classroom with a plan...be willing to adjust and adapt," he said. "We need to keep our minds open to do things another way." The guest speaker was Jeanie Cook (center in photo), the 2012 R-7 Teacher of the Year. "You are all going to be ambassadors for the district," said Cook, a 26-year veteran. "I challenge you to be cognizant of that."
