Barbers in Lee’s Summit have been having conferences in the attempt to get together on hours and prices. According to a report from Mark Lucas all of the Lee’s Summit shops have agreed on the hours. It will be 8 to 10 p.m. on Saturdays and 8 to 7 on other week days. The price of a shave will be 20 cents and a haircut will be 35 cents.

Dick Purdy is football coach at Lee’s Summit High School. Assistants are Gary Sage, Sandy Cahill, Mike Spiegal, Tom Christian, Wes Roper and Bob Craddock. The team will play Grandview, Marshall, North Kansas City, Blue Springs, Truman, Oak Park, St. Joseph Central, Winnetonka, Park Hill and Center.
After an extensive nationwide search during which more than 50 applicants were considered, Lee’s Summit once again has a permanent fire chief. James Grigsby, 39, from Hampton, Virginia, was confirmed and sworn in to office during a meeting of the Board of Aldermen. Grigsby began working for the Hampton Fire Department in 1972. The chief has a masters degree in public administration.
