Martha Jean Wirt
Martha Jean Wirt of Lee’s Summit passed away Aug. 8, 2013 after a brief illness.
She was born in Mercer County, Mo., Oct. 6, 1927 to George Hobart and Edna Mae Trainer Nigh. She married Russell R. Wirt on May 2, 1947. Jean devoted her life to caring for her family which grew to include two daughters, three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Harve Nigh.
Jean is survived by her husband of 66 years; brother Larry Nigh (Mary) of Overland Park, Kan.; daughters, Marlys Boughner (Chuck) of Lee’s Summit and Lana Myers (Bob) of Newton, Kan.: grandchildren; Carrie Orndorff (Michael), Brent Boughner (Lauren) of Blue Springs, and Ryan Myers (Jennifer) of Lawrence, Kan.; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Korryn and Karlee VanAcker, Ethan, Avery and Evan Boughner and Logan, Brody and Collin Myers.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Aug. 24 at Abundant Life Baptist Church, 414 SW Persels Rd., Lee’s Summit, Mo., 64081. Private burial will be at Floral Hills East Cemetery.
The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Abundant Life Baptist Church Building Fund.
