Electronics recycling facility now open

August 21, 2013

Responding to requests by residents for more opportunities to recycle unwanted electronics, Lee’s Summit opened a permanent electronics recycling facility.

It is open to the public 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, and located at the Resource Recovery Park, 2101 SE Hamblen Road.

The cost to recycle electronics is $10 per cubic yard. There is a minimum charge of $5. Some examples of acceptable items include televisions, computers, monitors, and printers. A full list of acceptable items is available on the city’s website at http://cityofls.net/Environment/Recycling/Electronics-Recycling.aspx

For the last several years, the city has offered electronics recycling events to the public at least once or twice a year. Those popular events will no longer be offered by the city. Also, electronics will not be collected at the North Recycling Center.

For more information contact the Public Works Department at 816-969-1800.
