The Lee’s Summit Symphony recently announced its 2013-14 concert line-up, which includes seven performances.
In addition to support from patrons and business sponsors, the Missouri Arts Council is providing funding for this season.
The season will begin with the Fall Classic, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at Lee’s Summit High School’s performing arts center. Partial funding for the concert has been provided by the Martha Lee Cain Tranby Music Enrichment Foundation.
The Symphony will present its Holiday Magic Concert Dec. 7 during two performances – one at 4 p.m. and one at 7 p.m. both at Lee’s Summit High School.
The Symphony’s Spring Classic Concert will be at 7:30 p.m. March 8 at the Lee’s Summit High School performing arts center.
The Family Pops Spectacular is scheduled for 7 p.m. April 26, also at the LSHS performing arts center.
Symphony musicians will join with orchestra members from Lee’s Summit R-7 high schools for the Symphony Showcase, scheduled for 3 p.m. May 25 at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City.
Saint Luke’s East Hospital is the exclusive business sponsor for this concert.
The 2013-14 season will conclude with the Lee’s Summit Symphony’s patriotic performance at Booms and Blooms, scheduled for early July at Powell Gardens.
To help young people have the opportunity to experience live symphonic music, all fourth- and fifth-graders will be admitted free to regular Symphony concerts (excluding the May 25 performance at the Kauffman Center and the Booms and Blooms performance at Powell Gardens).
Each fourth- and fifth-grader must be accompanied by an adult family member who is also attending the concert to qualify for the free admission. Free ticket vouchers for fourth- and fifth-graders may be obtained at the ticket table prior to the concert.
Tickets are available for purchase at both Lee’s Summit Hy-Vee stores and online at www.lssymphony.org.
Advance tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students 18 and under for the concerts at Lee’s Summit High School. Tickets at the door on the evening of a LSHS concert are $15 for adults and $7 for students.
Ticket prices for the Kauffman Center concert will be announced at a later date. Season tickets, which are for the fall, holiday and spring concerts (not the Kauffman Center event) will be available Sept. 1 online and at HyVee stores.
