August’s Fourth Friday is from 5 to 10 p.m. Aug. 23, in Downtown Lee’s Summit, and is packed with a variety of activities, including artist receptions, Music in the Park, “Cellular Cenes” street theatre and Yoga in the Streets.
In addition, participating businesses will host the Amazing Autumn! Fall Open house from Aug. 23-25, throughout Downtown Lee’s Summit. Enter to win a $100 Downtown Lee’s Summit shopping spree, and check out all of the new fall décor and fashions.
Fourth Friday features art and music at seven Downtown Lee’s Summit businesses: Blue Heron, Got Art Gallery, Five Petals, Freeland Photography, Mingle, Salon Metric and LMS Wine Creators, which also offers “Drink & Draw” from 6 to 8 p.m., where artists can bring their sketchbooks and pencils, then draw from a live model at no charge to the artist.
Music in the Park is from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 23, in Howard Station Park on SE Main Street, and features “Wheelhouse” and “Two Headed Cow.” Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs and listen to music, walk around Downtown Lee’s Summit, and visit downtown shops and restaurants.
The play “Cellular Cenes” will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 23. This is a unique outdoor theatre experience where the audience, who are asked to leave their cell phones on during the performance, literally follows the story throughout the streets of Downtown Lee’s Summit. This performance has new scenes and a new musical element. Tickets are $10 each and sell-out fast. Last but not least, popular yoga instructor Debra O’Bryan is bringing Yoga in the Streets back to Downtown Lee’s Summit at 7 p.m. Aug. 23, in the City Hall Plaza, 220 S.E. Green St. Bring a mat to this free outdoor yoga session, which is for all ages and skill levels.
