Truman Medical Center Lakewood presents Evening Under the Stars – Sunset at Key West on Aug. 24 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., under the portico at TMC Lakewood (7900 Lee’s Summit Road). The 2013 event co-chairs are Kansas City Councilwoman Cindy Circo and Independence Councilwoman Eileen Weir.

Evening Under the Stars is presented by Burns & McDonnell, Centene/Home State Health Plan, IBEW Local 124, Lakewood Anesthesia, JE Dunn Construction and the Sheet Metal Workers Local 2. The event, now in its eighth year, will bring more than 500 guests to TMC Lakewood for a night of hot music, cool food and great fun with a Key West theme. Entertainment is provided by island rock group Soca Jukebox and the amazing food provided by Plaza Catering.

In addition to great music, dancing and fun, a silent auction will include a Night on the Town – Sporting Kansas City that includes two tickets in the exclusive Victory Suite for the Sept. 17 Sporting KC vs. Real Esteli game and a one night stay at the Marriot hotel. Also included in the auction is a private suite for 12 plus $250 in food and beverages at any Missouri Mavericks Hockey Game and a Night on the Town – Independence package that features tickets for eight to the Oct. 29 Paramour concert and a variety of gift certificates to help make for an amazing night or nights in Independence.

A special, single item live auction will be held for a once-in-a-lifetime Kansas City Chiefs away game package. The package includes a trip for two, aboard the Kansas City Chiefs charter aircraft, accommodations at the team hotel, breakfast and dinner with executives and other VIP guests, transportation to and from the game, sideline passes and two tickets to watch the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Denver Broncos on Nov. 17 in Denver, Colo.

Corporate and community sponsorships of Evening Under the Stars – 2012 helped raise more than $150,000 for the purchase of the dental coach. All proceeds raised through this event will go to support the TMC Lakewood mobile dental program that benefits the students of the Independence School District. This mobile dental program delivers dental services to elementary age children. Since its inception in 2011, the school dental program has provided screenings and preventive services to more than 4000 elementary students in the Independence School District. All of these services have been provided with portable equipment utilizing any space the schools can make temporarily available. The new dental coach allows TMC dentists to provide a more extensive range of services in a private setting parked on site at elementary schools.

The 2013 event sponsorships will fund expansion of the program and its annual operating costs.
