Meadow Lane first-graders celebrate successful summer challenge

August 28, 2013

First-graders at Meadow Lane Elementary celebrated Aug. 22 after completing a reading challenge over the summer. At the end of the 2012-13 school year, first-grade teachers challenged the then-kindergarteners to complete four activities based on math, reading and writing each week during the summer.

Students completing the challenge celebrated by receiving ice cream from an ice-cream truck that visited the school on Aug. 22.

Students completing the challenge were Katie McQueen, Karsyn Todd, Asa Light, Preston Stout, Navi Hodge, James Cox, Sa’Ryah McKinley, Kendall Carey, Ty Schroeder, Gina Deol and Talan Knipp.

First-grade teachers issuing the challenge are Stephenie Bertz, Ryan Burke, Rebecca Mallen and Keith Wingert.
