Lee’s Summit West sophomore Nicole Kallenberger participated in two track and field events this summer.
She competed in the AAU Junior Olympics held July 27-Aug. 3 at Eastern Michigan University, Upsilanti, MI. Kallenberger took 10th place overall in the heptathlon with a score of 3,439 points.
She placed 14th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.61 seconds, eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 39.02 seconds, 17th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.43, ninth in the high jump with a height of 4 feet, 9 3/4 inches, eighth in the long jump with a distance of 15 feet, 11 1/2 inches, 23rd in the shot put with a toss of 21 feet, 8 3/4 inches and 23rd in the javelin throw with a distance of 53 feet, 11 inches.
She also finished 14th in the pole vault with a height of 9 feet, 6 inches and tied for 34th in the high jump with a height of 4 feet, 8 inches. Kallenberger also took 38th in the 400-meter hurdles preliminaries with a time of 1:11.26.
Kallenberger also competed in the fourth annual Gardner Street Vault competition held Aug. 11 at Gardner Elementary School, Gardner, Kan. She flew to a new personal record of 11 feet.
