CECIL L. GOLDEN

Cecil L. Golden, 78, formerly of Lee’s Summit, departed this life Aug. 26, 2013 at his son’s home in Branson, surrounded with love and family.

He was born Dec. 30, 1934 in Springfield, Mo. the son of Leonard Erin and Opal Ethel (Manning) Golden.

Cecil was a United States Army Veteran, proudly serving in the Infantry and Airborne divisions.

On Oct. 4, 1966, he was united in marriage to Francies Darline Plumlee in Lee’s Summit. She preceded him in death on May 27, 2008.

Cecil had been employed as a welder for the Simon & Johnson Company in Kansas City retiring in 1986. He enjoyed fishing and building racecars in his spare time.

He was also preceded in death by one grandchild, Daniel Fields.

Cecil is survived by two sons; Doug (and Kathy) Golden of Warsaw, and Troy Golden (and Suzy Porter) of Branson; two daughters, Diane Greer of Sedalia and Teri (and Doug) Hargrave of Greenwood; one brother, Ronnie (and Sue) Golden of North Kansas City; three sisters, Debbie Blitzer of Leawood, Donna (and John) Carter of Warsaw, and Wanda Hibbs of Concordia; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Aug. 30, 2013 at the funeral home. Graveside military services and interment will be in Floral Hills-East Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice Compassus of Branson.
