Longview Baptist Church to host free concert

September 10, 2013

Longview Baptist Church in Lee’s Summit is hosting a free neighborhood concert on Sept. 14. The concert, which begins at 6:30 p.m., will feature Ray Hilderbrand. A love offering will be taken during the concert to benefit Hilderbrand and his ministry. The church will provide desserts in the fellowship hall immediately following the concert.

Hilderbrand is best known for his No. 1 chart song, “Hey Paula.” A fan favorite, this song had an impact on many people including Elvis Presley, Kenny Rogers and countless others. Royalty sheets indicate this song has been played everyday since 1962.

God led Hilderbrand in 1967 to begin ministry work with the Fellowship of Christian athletes in Fort Worth, Texas. This move coincided with a new Contemporary Christian music solo recording career with Word Records. He released three albums and several singles with Word while becoming one of the pioneers of Contemporary Christian Music.
