PLMS, Mid-Continent Public Library partnership benefits students

September 11, 2013

Pleasant Lea Middle School and Mid-Continent Public Library recently partnered to inform students about digital media resources at both the school library and public library.

During the course of four days, Lauren White, teen services librarian at the Lee’s Summit branch of Mid-Continent Public Library, and Tracy Baker, librarian at PLMS, presented to every student in the school on a variety of topics, including accessing eBooks and utilizing databases.

Following the presentation, students had the opportunity to sign up for a Mid-Continent Public Library card. More than 150 students signed up for the public library cards.

Mid-Continent Public Library and PLMS will continue their partnership throughout the year by sponsoring a teen library club. The club will meet once a week and plan teen activities for the Lee’s Summit branch.

Lee's Summit Journal is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
