LSPD investigating accident involving Sheriff’s Deputy

The Lee’s Summit Police Department is investigating the cause of an accident involving a Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy.

According to Lee’s Summit police officials, at 7 p.m. Sept. 5 the deputy was traveling south on Missouri 291 with his lights and siren activated as he approached M-291 and Tudor Rd.

The deputy was preparing to make a left turn and go east on Tudor / Scruggs when a vehicle traveling eastbound from the area near Wal-Mart entered the intersection on a green light and struck the deputy’s vehicle.

The deputy was transported to an area hospital as a precaution, and other driver was not injured.

No citations were issued and the investigation continues.
