I would like to comment on last Friday’s opinion about negotiating land.
The first thing; I do agree there should be a third party to help mediate this type situation.
I would also like to talk about appraisals; they can work two ways up or down.
First point, Raytown Baptist Church site had appraised for $300,000, but Wal-Mart liked the location and was willing to pay $600,000.
In the article the Editor said that Mr. Dahmer paid $230,000 for the property, he did this because he could build a $7 million or $8 million project on the site. This made it very attractive to him.
