Joseph Howard, Sr, 89, of Lee’s Summit, passed away on Sept. 13, 2013 at the Benchmark Care Center in Lee’s Summit.

Joseph was born on January 12, 1924 in Melville, La. He moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1943 with his wife, Mary B. Howard. He was employed by Kap-pel Fabrics in Kansas City as a warehouse supervisor. He eventually moved to Lee’s Summit in 1969. He and his wife were longstanding members of Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary B. Howard, daughter, Melgene A. Howard, son, Joseph “Ricky” A. Howard, Jr. and daughter, Mary E. Howard.

Survivors are his children; Charles Howard, Shirley Howard, Sylvia Howard, Annette Raney and Eddie Howard, Grandchildren; Michelle Dermond, Michael Babusa, Anthony and Zachary Howard, Stephanie Oropeza-Juarez, Melanie Wertz, Melissa Allen, Jennifer Simpson, Jimmy Mustion, Neil and Valerie Bradshaw, Ariel and Austin Raney, Hannah and Ruby Howard.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Sept.19, at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church in Lee’s Summit. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Langsford Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Lee’s Summit Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 7611 State Line Rd, Ste 200, Kansas City, Mo., 64114.
