Giddy Up with LSPR’s fall horseback riding classes

Kids ages four through six can enroll in Texas Tots, a horsemanship class designed for little ones. Kids will meet real horses and have the opportunity to learn while having fun as big as Texas. Classes will be held 10-11 a.m. Saturdays, Oct. 5-26. The registration fee is $65 and the deadline is Sept. 28.

Children ages six and up can enroll for Beginning Horsemanship and learn basic horsemanship skills including safety, grooming, tacking, horse anatomy and basic horse care. This class is offered 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 29-Dec. 3, register by Oct. 8 for early bird fee of $89.

Beginner Rider I is for anyone six and older who have taken Beginning Horsemanship or have some previous riding experience. Students will groom and tack and learn English or Western riding techniques. This class is being offered 6:30-7:30 p.m. Mondays, Oct. 28-Dec. 2 and 7:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 29-Dec. 3. This session early bird registration is Oct. 7and is $129.

Beginner Rider II is for kids six and up who have taken Beginning Horsemanship and Rider I, or with previous riding experience. The majority of class will include practicing balance and learning gaits. This class is offered 7:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays, Oct. 28-Dec. 2 and 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 29-Dec. 3 register by Oct. 7 for early bird fee of $149.

All classes are held at Sunset Trails Stables on Ranson Road. Hard soled shoes and long pants must be worn for each of these classes. To register for any of these classes go to www.lsparks.net or call 816-969-1500.
