R-7 students invited to sign up for Fuel Up to Play 60

October 2, 2013

All Lee’s Summit R-7 schools are participating in Fuel Up to Play 60, a program that encourages students to exercise regularly and make healthy food choices. The program was founded by the National Dairy Council and the NFL in collaboration with the USDA.

To sign up, students and parents may visit www.fueluptoplay60.com and select “Join us.” Parents are encouraged to help their children fill out the information, record their school name and also make note of their username and password. Children under 13 require their parents’ permission to be fully active on the website.

Through the website, students may track their physical activity and nutrition for each day. The goal is 60 minutes of exercise and healthy eating each day.

Students who log in daily may win prizes for themselves or for their school, such as a school visit by an NFL player, school assemblies and even Super Bowl tickets. In addition, parents may sign up through the website under the “supporter” section and track their nutrition and exercise along with their children.

Student groups may also attend Chiefs home games, attend Team Summit at Arrowhead and other events.

Lee's Summit Journal is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
