Washington University in St. Louis had seven student-athletes named the University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week for their respective sports.
Among the seven was Alec Stanke, a graduate of Lee’s Summit West, and a sophomore on the Washington University football team.
Stanke received UAA Football Special Teams Athlete of the Week honors for the third time this season.
He averaged 43.2 yards per punt in Washington University’s 31-14 win over Centre Sept. 28. Stanke landed two punts inside the 20-yard line and had a long of 49 yards. Of his six punts, three were downed, two resulted in negative yards and one was a fair catch for a net punt of 43.7 yards per punt.
Stanke also received the UAA Special Teams Athlete of the Week nods Sept. 9 and Sept. 23.
