Anna Pearl (VanTuyl) Mayte

Anna Pearl (VanTuyl) Mayte, 90, resident of Hoquiam, Wash., died Aug.30, 2013 and was laid to rest Oct. 4 with military honors alongside her husband at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore. Anna and husband, Thomas P. Matye were Marine Corps veterans of WWII, Anna, one of nine children, grew up in Jackson County attending schools in rural Atherton, Independence and Buckner.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas P. Mayte, daughter, Virginia A. Lewis, grandson, Mac Lewis, four brothers; Wendell M., Kenneth W., Allan D., Roger T. and two sisters; Esther E. Resch and Marion L. Toms.

She is survived by son, Roger T. Matye and wife, Correne of Salem, Ore., son, Rodney F. Mayte and wife, Sandy of Cosmopolis, Wash., six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, a brother, Harold L. VanTuyl and wife, Florine and sister Mona A. Jones and husband, James, both of Lee’s Summit and extended family members.
