Titans take second at KC Metro

In the tough field of 24 competitors, Lee’s Summit West’s girls’ cross country team finished second at the KC Metro Championships Oct. 5 at Raymore-Peculiar.

The Titans ended the meet with a team score of 97 points, behind St. Thomas Aquinas in first place with a team score of 60 points.

Lee’s Summit West was led by senior Annika Sisson in third with a time of 19 minutes, 3.9 seconds. Senior Kennadee Williams took 11th with a time of 19:28.6, senior Elizabeth Nolke finished 23rd with a time of 19:58, junior Samantha Phillips took 32nd with a time of 20:18.9, sophomore Camille Oster placed 34th with a time of 20:27.9, sophomore Cori Persinger took 58th with a time of 20:48.1 and freshman Ally Iseman took 59th with a time of 20:49.4.

The Lee’s Summit North girls took third place with a team score of 124 points. The Broncos were led by senior Elizabeth Carpino in second place with a time of 19:00.9.

Sophomore Danielle Rock took ninth with a time of 189:23.9, followed by senior Jesse Dinkins in 15th with a time of 19:32.7, junior Mandi Murphy in 29th with a time of 20:15.4, sophomore Kaylyn Gasser in 79th with a time of 21:12.6, sophomore Faith Thomas in 97th with a time of 21:37.9 and senior Alicia Dunton in 127t with a time of 22:21.

The Lee’s Summit North boys’ team finished sixth with a team score of 191 points, behind Raymore-Peculiar in first, Rockhurst in second, Olathe North in third, Park Hill South in fourth and St. Thomas Aquinas in fifth.

The Broncos were led by senior Kyle Dean in 15th with a time of 16:28.9, followed by senior Brian Green in 17th with 16:35.2, senior Sam Stockman in 40th with a time of 17:01.6, junior Brent Kilgore in 60th with 17:19.6, junior Derek Moores in 76th with 17:35.3, junior Karl Williams in 90th with 17:46.7 and sophomore Gabe Davies in 103rd with 17:55.9.

The Lee’s Summit girls took ninth with a team score of 263 points. The Tigers were led by freshman Addie King in 36th with a time of 20:30.

Senior Aubrie Hirsch finished 53rd with a time of 20:44.9, followed by sophomore Amanda Hubbard in 56th with a time of 20:46.2, senior Allison Stetzler in 67th with a time of 20:54.1, sophomore Jessica Cravy in 68th with a time of 20:56.4, junior Kaylee Brooks in 117th with a time of 22:09.3 and junior Jaci Heron in 120th with a time of 22:16.4.

The Lee’s Summit West boys’ team placed 16th with a team score of 400 points, led by senior Sam Kleinsasser in 61st with a time of 17:20.4.

Sophomore Max Lyons finished 73rd with a time of 17:33.8, followed by junior Brayden Presley in 82nd with a time of 17:37.9, sophomore Peyton Burlingame in 107th with a time of 17:57.8, sophomore Austin Whitney in 119th with 18:10.2, senior Trevor Butler in 123rd with 18:12.5 and freshman Bailey Lourens in 137th with a time of 18:22.7.

The Tiger boys took 17th with a team score of 408 points. They were led by junior Ian Nickens in 65th with a time of 17:23.1.

Senior Louie Bertoncin placed 81st with a time of 17:36.7, junior Chris Mitchell finished 93rd with a time of 17:48.7, senior Gavin Tracy took 100th with a time of 17:52.7, freshman Noah Wood placed 113th with a time of 18:05.9, senior David Swed took 117th with a time of 18:08.7 and freshman Kendall King finished 124th with a time of 18:13.5.
