Lee’s Summit purchasing department wins award

Lee’s Summit’s Procurement and Contract Services Division has been awarded for the second time the prestigious Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award for 2013.

The city department firs received the honor in 2011, and this year is one of only two government agencies in the state of Missouri presented the award by the National Procurement Institute.

“Congratulations to the staff of the City’s Procurement and Contract Services Division on this outstanding industry achievement,” said Steve Arbo, city manager. “This award of accomplishment is a testament to the best practices standards utilized by the department as well as the caliber of highly skilled professionals charged with overseeing the city’s procurement and contract services.”

The AEP Award is earned by public and non-profit organizations that obtain a high application score based on standardized criteria. The judging criteria are innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity, and leadership. This program encourages the development of excellence as well as continued organizational improvement to earn the award annually.

Procurement Contract Compliance Manager Barbara Poole and Senior Procurement Officer DeeDee Tschirhart accepted the award on behalf of the City at the NPI Awards Ceremony on Oct. 7 in St. Charles, Mo.
