Meadow Lane Elementary students receive T-shirts from Summit Bank

Several students from Meadow Lane Elementary show off their new T-shirts to Bob Glaser from Summit Bank of Kansas City. All Meadow Lane students received a T-shirt stating “Read to Me!” and a copy of the book, “Because of Winn Dixie” as part of the school-wide One School, One Book initiative.

Costs for the shirts were offset by donations from business partners, Summit Bank and the Meadow Lane PTA.

Students and their families are reading their books during September and October at home and participating in ongoing activities centered on the book at school. One School, One Book is designed to create a shared reading experience within a single school or community.

A chapter book is chosen, and each family in the school receives a copy. Families read the book at home together over the course of a single month, and activities at school coordinate, promote and enrich the shared reading experience.
