Herder, LSN doubles team state bound

For the second year in a row, Lee’s Summit North doubles team Logan Morrissey and Camryn Parnell will battle at the Class 2 state doubles tournament.

The duo took sixth place at state last season and are hoping for a better finish this year.

Morrissey and Parnell finished first in the Class 2, Sectional 7 tournament held Oct. 15. The team defeated Lee’s Summit West’s Allison Finneseth and Megan Finneseth in the championship.

Teammates Vilune Sestokaite and Alyson Moore lost 6-1 and 6-4 to Notre Dame de Sion’s Jane King and Margo Gerke in the championship match.

Also heading to state is Lee’s Summit’s Tess Herder. Herder defeated Blue Springs South’s Leah Bell 6-0 and 6-0 in the singles championship match.

Lee’s Summit North’s Jenny Krause lost to Notre Dame de Sion’s Michaela Henne 6-2 and 6-1 to end her singles season.

The singles and doubles state tournament will be held Oct. 24-26 at Cooper Tennis Complex, Springfield.
