The halls and auditoriums on the campus of Summit Christian Academy were filled Oct. 11 with more than 600 grandparents from across the globe at Grandparents’ Day 2013. From Texas, to Arkansas to the country of Mexico, grandparents and surrogates enjoyed a showcase of SCA.

“It was a fantastic feat by our students and teachers, alike. Our school community loves Grandparents Day and look forward to the celebration each year,” said Linda Harrelson, head of school at SCA.

Grandparents were “wowed” by a vast array of music selections from the secondary choir, band, and elementary students, all under the musical direction of Angela Bounds, Trissa Lucht, and Dennis McClanahan. Following the program grandparents went into the classroom with their grandchildren as they participated in classroom activities.

Lee's Summit Journal is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
