R-7 high school students named October Optimist students of the Month

Six Lee’s Summit R-7 School District high school seniors were recently named October Optimist Students of the Month by the Lee’s Summit Breakfast Optimist Club. The club honors six seniors each month for outstanding scholarship and citizenship.

Recognized students for October were Yu-Shiuan Hsu, Lee’s Summit High School; Kyle Tye, LSHS; Elizabeth Carpino, Lee’s Summit North High School; Matt Hoover, LSNHS; Elizabeth Triplett, Lee’s Summit West High School; and Logan Triplett, LSWHS.

Yu-Shiuan Hsu, daughter of Hsueh-Fang Tai, has been active in math club, Science Olympiad, robotics and band. After high school, Yu-Shiuan plans to attend a four-year college or university to pursue a degree in a medical field, hoping to become a doctor.

Kyle Tye, son of Holly Tye and Robert Tye, has been active in band, French club, baseball and National Honor Society. After high school, Kyle plans to attend college to obtain a degree in medicine or engineering, with a minor in French.

Elizabeth Carpino, daughter of Stephanie Carpino and Pete Carpino, has been active in cross country, track, symphony orchestra, National Honor Society and A+ Program. After high school, Elizabeth hopes to attend University of Nebraska and run for their sports program, majoring in a biology related area to become a veterinarian.

Matt Hoover, son of Anne Hoover and Jim Hoover, has been active in football, lacrosse, newspaper, student senate, German club and Boys State. After high school, Matt hopes to attend a military academy, play football or lacrosse and work towards a degree in pharmaceutical engineering.

Elizabeth Triplett, daughter of Billy Jo Triplett and Jeff Triplett, has been active in debate and forensics, Youth in Government, Future Business Leaders of America, National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, book club, kindness council, freshmen mentoring program and is an International Baccalaureate Diploma candidate.

After high school, Elizabeth plans to pursue a master’s degree in business with an emphasis in public relations.

Logan Triplett, son of Billy Jo Triplett and Jeff Triplett, has been active in lacrosse, National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, harmony council, Titan Television and is an InteInternational Baccalaureate Diploma candidate.

After high school, Logan plans to attend college to pursue a degree in filmmaking.
