Echoes

Kansas City StarNovember 1, 2013

your team

is winning

this season

hope

you know

having stayed

loyal

while we

abandoned

those losers

you were

like that

can you

still find

your way

here

we will

mark

the path

with

memories

front door

is open

although

you usually

came in

the back

it is closer

to the kitchen

we have

arranged

a table

almost

altar like

photos

candles

a few small

reminders

oh yes

all of your

favorite

foods

the aroma

of that bread

you liked

so much

flavors the house

there will be

an empty

chair

waiting

we recorded

those songs

you played

over and over

may sing

a few

together

so many

stories

we have

laughed

sighed

cried

a little

already

remembering

same neighbor

may be

slightly drunk

dont count on

our cousin

to have changed

she talks

never listens

just realize

how much

we want you

to return

on this

day of the

dead

we need

reminding

of your

love

thats

been

what

saves

us
